Summer 5-Aside at Ōtūmoetai Football Club is all about fast games, plenty of touches, and football that feels fun from the first whistle.
Played at Fergusson Park, our 5-Aside competition gives teams the chance to stay active, build confidence, sharpen skills, and enjoy the game in a relaxed summer setting.
It’s ideal for juniors, seniors, mates, work teams, pre-season squads, and anyone who loves football but wants something shorter, sharper and easier to commit to.
The format keeps things moving. Smaller teams mean more time on the ball, more chances to score, and more involvement for every player. Bring a full team, wear matching colours, and get ready for a great summer of football with the Ōtūmoetai community.
How do I register
Head to our Register page. If you already have an account, just log in. If you’re new to Otumoetai Football Club, select New to Club, then choose 5 Aside Season and follow the steps to complete your team registration.
Can I register as an individual player
We don’t take individual registrations for 5-aside. All teams must register as a full team, under one person's name.
However, if you’re on your own, you’re welcome to email [email protected] with your details and we’ll do our best to connect you with a team that might be looking for extra players.
How long are the games?
Juniors play 2 x mini games of 20 mins each (5 minutes in between games)
Seniors play 1 x game of 20 min halves.
What do we wear?
Your team is required to wear matching playing shirts. This can just be the same colour, however we recommend going for something that will differentiate your team from others. We do have some bibs, but not enough to go around all teams.
How many players should we have in a team?
There are 5 players on the field at a time. We recommend having 7–10 players in your squad, as not everyone can make it each week due to work, family commitments or injuries.
How many females do we need in a mixed team?
If you are a mixed team, you need a minimum of 2 females on the field at all times. (This applies to our senior Mixed league, not Juniors)
Is it competitive or social?

What if my team can't play or is short of players?
You must do your best to field a team each week, including finding fill-ins if needed.
If you're still unable to field a team, you must notify the administrator by midday on the day of your game:? [email protected]
Where do I find notifications about cancellations?
We will do our best to notify team managers via email as early as possible if 5-Aside is cancelled due to bad weather. Please note, games will still go ahead in light rain - we will only cancel if conditions are unsafe. Any cancellations will also be posted on our Facebook page.
